SEMA 2008: 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Unveiled

Ford has officially unveiled the 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor at the SEMA show in Las Vegas.

The SVT Raptor starts with the new 2009 F-150 and adds a unique grille and a body that is seven inches wider. In addition the suspension has been upgraded with new upper and lower A arms, upgraded tie rods, new half shaft joints, and shocks from Fox Racing.

The standard engine in the SVT Raptor is the F-150's proven 5.4-liter Triton V8 three-valve engine, which delivers 320 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque. A new 6.2L V8 engine will be available after launch.

GM Performance Parts Releases the Supercharged 638HP LS9 Crate Engine

GM's LS9 6.2L supercharged V8 makes the 2009 Corvette ZR1 the fastest production GM car ever. GM Performance Parts has announced that the 638 horsepower engine will be available as a complete crate engine package.

The LS9 crate engine is ideal for enthusiasts that want to add even more power to their vintage Corvettes and project cars. The crate engine comes with the ignition system, supercharger assembly, exhaust manifolds, etc. Those that are interested in the crate engine will need to also get an external oil tank, external coolant tank (for the charge cooler) and an ECU/wire harness.

Ford May Bring the Ka Subcompact to the US

Ford introduced the world to the all-new Ka subcompact at the 2008 Paris Motor Show last week. At first Ford said that there were no plans to bring the Ka to the US, but the increased demand for small cars has forced Ford to rethink that decision.

The all-new Ka features Ford's European Kinetic Design that is similar to the larger Fiesta and Focus. This morning CEO Alan Mulally told a Detroit radio station that Ford is rethinking the original decision to not bring the Ka to the US.

The Ka goes on sale in Europe in early 2009. If Ford does decide to bring the small car here, don't count on it before 2011.

Is Ford Considering a Truck Smaller than the F-150 but Larger than the Ranger?

Full-size truck sales have dropped off considerably due to the high gas prices and declining housing market in the US. Gas prices alone have pushed many buyers into smaller vehicles leaving large trucks and SUVs on lots for weeks or months at a time. This new trend of moving into smaller vehicles may (hopefully) revive the small-midsize truck market.

2009 Corvette ZR1 Hits the Nurburgring and Gives the GT-R Some Competition

GM unveiled the Corvette ZR1 at the Detroit Auto Show this year and the car just recently hit the Nurburgring in Germany to get some track times. Engineers behind the wheel claimed that the ZR1 was able to achieve lap times in the low 7:40s.

1967 Shelby Mustang ELEANOR Movie Car (EBAY)

The ORIGINAL ELEANOR!!. This is one of the actual movie cars. There were 11 total production cars, of those , 8 were shells and 3 were actual running and driving cars. The 1967 Mustang GT500 stole the show in “Gone in Sixty Seconds,” the 2000 action hit starring Nicolas Cage.

The popular pony car is actually one of 11 built for the movie. Of those, two were destroyed in the climactic bridge jump and junkyard crusher scenes. Because certain cars were needed to do different maneuvers in the film, no two Eleanors were alike.

Jay Leno and his NEW 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8

Who else but JAY LENO, would get their hands on Dodge’s sexy new retro-themed muscle car the 2008 Dodge Challengers. JAY took delivery of his Black Challenger SRT8 on Monday, June 2, 2008, in Los Angeles. As you can see in the foreground, Leno also took along his orange/black 1970’s Dodge Challenger.

The 2008 Dodge Challengers have started arriving in dealerships across the U.S. While driving on the 401 in Toronto last night, I saw a whack of orange ones on a car transport headed WEST just past Milton, ON. It was unfortunately too dark to snap a photo which would have been sweet for this post!
